Tutoring that Works!
More information: LiPS Program
Children with dyslexia can learn to read and spell using an Orton-Gillingham System. These tutoring systems are highly interactive and simultaneously multisensory, allowing children to learn to read and spell using every sensory modality they have. These programs are also very systematic and explict, and they require intense practice. For that reason, it is recommended that children receive tutoring for one hour twice weekly.
Occasionally, a child may not be immediately ready for tutoring using an Orton-Gillingham System because they have difficulty hearing and discriminating individual sounds. For these children, theĀ LiPS program will teach them the necessary skills to begin an Orton-Gillingham tutoring system.
Our office offers tutoring using theĀ Barton Reading & Spelling System. This is a ten level tutoring system that is Orton-Gillingham based. It takes from 18-36 months to complete all ten levels based on the severity of the dyslexia.
