LiPS® Program
Lindamood Phonemic Sequencing® (LiPS®)
Some children that have dyslexia are not immediately ready to begin an Orton-Gillingham based tutoring system because they have difficulty discriminating sounds. This program will prepare these children for further tutoring by teaching them to hear and discriminate sounds in words.
A multisensory approach is used to teach children to distinguish one sound from another. Children will use auditory, visual, and tactile information to describe each sound.
Children with dyslexia need to continue in this program until they can “track three sounds” (a LiPS® tutor will understand this term). Once they have achieved that level, they are ready to begin an Orton-Gillingham system.
